Discovery of a New Land

Arthur, the guard captian, promised each party member that ventured down into the cave 50 gold pieces each. For me this was a chance of a life time. I needed the money, desperately. And all I had to do was go down into some caverns and search for a couple of guards that had been missing for a while down there. How hard could that be?

So the party set off, and we successfully scaled down the gaping pit that formed the cave mouth. Upon reaching the cavern floor, we noticed a tunnel leading off into the rock. Being forced with only one direction of travel, we progressed down it. Not far down the tunnel we reached an issue; there were three crevaces along the floor that were all roughly 10 to 15 feet in diameter, with two small platforms that could hold roughly four or five people each. We had to cross these, but how?

Some of our party were skilled enough in their acrobatic skills and thus attempted to jump the distance. The first being the Bard, Thomas. He didn't really seem to understand that such a distance to jump was fairly difficult. He sort of just flung himself at it. Surprisingly he actually made the first platform. This seemed to shock everyone really; no one expected him to get across. With risen self-confidence, he launched his body at the next platform. And naturally, he fell.

Thankfully, due to fast thinking, Nicholas managed to cast a 'Feather Fall' spell within time to save him. This caused his fall to slowen, and a rope succesfully be used to hoist him back up to the second platform.

During all of this time, Sai also attempted the jumps. He cleared the first one easily, being skilled at jumping, however only just manage to reach the second platform by grabbing the edges with his hand. Sai finally made it over to the other side, despite much concern from the rest of our party for his safety.

It was at this stage that Nicholas had a rational thought, something that I wished he thought of earlier. He realised that he was carrying a ten foot ladder in his pack, and that could be used to lay across the crevaces to climb across as if a bridge.

From there we were able to reach the next cavern...

Foundations of a New Party

I should probably point out, that I find this land rather strange at the best of times. It is very different to what I am accustomed to. In fact, at times I wonder why I ever left my homeland - what the driving force that keeps me moving is.

I suppose it was by chance that I meet the party group that I was to join. I merely happened to be passing by the area, when I overheard the conversations taking place between Arthur, the town's guard captain, and a small party of heroes. Several members of the prementioned party had belonged to a larger party that had ventured down into a series of cave systems not far from the town, when a roof collapse had forced them to the surface, and splitting them up from the rest of their original party. These members were Shadow, Thomas, Nicholas and Sai. They had thus joined this particular party, in order to find their own party members and the men they had been sent down to find.

Considerng I was in desperate need of money at this stage, since I officially had no coins what so ever, I volunteered myself to join the search party. It was at this stage that I gave a more detailed study of each of the other party members.

Shadow was an elvin ranger, like myself. However she did seem far more experienced than myself. She wore some rather interesting armor, and it should be noted that she carried on her back a rather LARGE pack. I will also make the point of mentioning that she is the only other female member of the party, apart from myself. I am not generally known as a elf that needs to socialise with other females, however it is good to have a female companion to refamiliarise oneself with their 'sex'.

Next was Thomas. He was a bard, that at first and correct thoughts appears to be of a low intelligence. He seems to struggle recognising, or fully comprehending, several topics of discussion, or points of interest. Despite this, he seemed a relatively friendly person from first glance, and thus I found him as someone that I could trust.

Next there was Nicholas. He is a cleric necromancer as far as I can tell. Having a few unsettling run ins in the past with some necromancers, it was an automatic sense within me to distrust this gentleman. However, I am determined to give every person an equal chance. So I was determined to see where a relationship went.

Next was the monk Sai. I must say that I found myself socialising with several other party members more than Sai. However I am determined to learn more about this person in the future.

Finally there was Nimohtar, a fighter. He seemed like a relative gentleman at first glance, and so far I have no real reason to doubt this.

It was from there that Arthur, the guard, gave us our frist quest as a party. It was from there, that we left the safety of the town to discover our true selves.
